Once again Susu Pampanin and her Cairo Cats raised the bar for hafla bands, with Mussa on keyboards, Koralee on oud, and Terriane on percussion. The dozen soloists were treated to brilliant versions of the Arabic repertoire and Koralee performaned an airy oud solo for Aruna & MIchael's temple dance.
During the band break a few troupes performed to cd including Desert Heat from the East Bay, Les Gazelles directed by Dhyanis, plus the debut of a veil dance by the "Young Gypsies" (6 & 7 years old).
There were also two rousing sets of open floor for the audience to try their moves to the scintillating sounds! We had a full house, delectable buffet, and the incomparable crackling drums of Susu live!
Thanks to all. Look for other shows at our studio--and sign up to dance at the next live music hafla in September.
